About Mt. Baker Youth Symphony |

Mt. Baker Youth Symphony provides advanced, intermediate, and beginning orchestral and chorale experience for musicians up to the age of 21 during regular rehearsals and concerts throughout the academic year. Mt. Baker Youth SymphonyStudents in Youth Symphony are the most experienced musicians in our organization. They perform challenging symphonic literature on an advanced level. An audition is required. Mt. Baker Symphonic ChoraleA vocal training group which regularly performs great choral works, often accompanied by orchestral instruments. No audition required. Mt. Baker Junior SymphonyThis group is designed to accommodate musicians with a minimum of 2 years private study or permission of the conductor. They perform intermediate symphonic works and join the Youth Symphony to create the Festival Orchestra featured at each concert. No audition required. Mt. Baker SinfonetteThe Sinfonette is open to anyone with one year musical instruction on a stringed or wind instrument or at the director's discretion. This program is an excellent preparation for beginning students as they develop their instrumental skills in preparation for entrance into the Junior Symphony. No audition required. Sinfonette rehearses from 6:00pm to 7:00pm DirectionsTraveling north or south on I-5 take the Sunset Drive exit, #255. (This exit is by Sunset Square, a large shopping area.) Exit I-5 and proceed east on Sunset Drive. If exiting south bound this is a left turn at the light; if exiting north bound it is a right turn at the light. Proceed approximately two miles to McLeod Road; turn right off of Sunset at the light onto East McLeod. Proceed about 1/3 of a mile and you will now see Squalicum High School to your left. If you haven't been there before: Use the main entrance (by the large sign), through the front doors, cafeteria will be down the hall on the left, go through the cafeteria almost to a dead end, the Band Room is on the right. TuitionTuition is $325.00 per year for the first child. Additional siblings are discounted to $300.00. This tuition covers all of the musical elements now offered by MBYS. A student may choose to participate in more than one group (such as Chorale and any one of the symphonies) for no additional cost, if they can accommodate both in their schedule. Tuition may be paid in full in September or in 3 payments of $125 in September, $100 in January, and $100 in April. How to reach us:Mt.
